Product Information:

Nordic I-joists use only finger-jointed black spruce lumber in their flanges, ensuring consistent quality, superior strength, and longer span carrying capacity. Nordic I-Joists are light-weight, available in long lengths, and allow design flexibility.

601.2(1) Structural systems are implemented that reduce and optimize material usage. Minimum structural member sizes necessary in accordance with advanced framing techniques. 3 Product must be used as part of a design that uses structural members at spans and spacings equal to the maximum rating for the product.

Manufacturer's Comments: Nordic I-Joists enable the use of advanced framing techniques.
606.1(1-3) Biobased products are used. 8 points maximum awarded. 3, 6 To earn 6 points, this product must be at least 1% of the construction material cost AND another bio-based product, also at 1% of material cost, must be used. Lesser points are available at the 0.5% level.

Manufacturer's Comments: Nordic I-Joists are made entirely of wood from trees grown under Nordic's stewardship.
606.2(2) At least 2 responsible or certified wood-based products are used as major components of the building. 4 points available. 3, 4 To earn 4 points a second certified wood product must also be used as a major element. Lesser points available for use with a minor element.

Manufacturer's Comments: Nordic I-Joist wood is certified to the requirements of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
606.3 Materials manufactured using =33% of the primary manufacturing process energy derived from renewable sources, combustible waste sources, or renewable energy credits are used as major components of the building. 2 points awarded per material; 6 points max. 2 Product must be used for a major component of the building.

Manufacturer's Comments: Hydro-electricity and biomass are used to manufacture the Nordic products, which are renewable energy sources.
608.1(2) Engineered wood or engineered steel products are used in place of conventional products. 3 points awarded per material. 3 At least 80% of joists in the building is this product.

Manufacturer's Comments: Engineered wood products use fewer materials than conventional wood products.
901.4(2-6) A minimum of 85% of material within a product group (i.e., wood structural panels, countertops, composite trim/doors, custom woodwork, and/or component closet shelving) is manufactured in accordance with the following. 10 points maximum awarded. 4 A minimum of 85% of joists in the building is this product.

Manufacturer's Comments: Nordic wood products contain no added urea formaldehyde resins.
