NGBS Green certification is based on the ICC 700 National Green Building Standard® (NGBS). A residential or mixed-use building can be certified under the 2015 or 2020 NGBS version.

With the 2020 NGBS, compliance criteria for commercial spaces was added which expands eligibility for commercial building products and appliances to be certified.
